An original fan character for the series "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba."
Name: Tsuruka (鶴か)
Age: 15
Breathing Style: Breath of Crane (鶴の呼吸 Tsuru no kokyu) and Breath of Snow (雪の呼吸 Yuki no kokyu)
Bio:
There was a rumor that said Tsuruka is the daughter of a human man and a crane woman. However, the truth is that her mother was turned into a demon shortly after giving birth to her. Mortally wounded, her father asked the attending Demon Slayer to deliver the baby to the nearest shrine or temple. And so the child was brought to a Shinto Buddhist temple.
The child trained as a nun until age six, when a starving demon attacked her masters while she was on an errand to fetch a sacred bell. Upon seeing the sight of a demon consuming the only family she had ever known, rather than filling with fear, an intense loathing welled up inside of her. Her loathing blanketed the room around her like deep snow, bogging the demon down long enough for the closest Demon Slayer to arrive and kill the creature. Through this conflict she never let go of the sacred bell she had originally been sent for. The bell was later made into the hilt for her sword.
If Tsuruka is forced to open her eyes during battle with a demon, her bells fall silent, the air surrounding her grows thick and heavy, naturally slowing her opponent’s movements. Her already powerful attacks become even stronger, capable of crushing half a demon with a single blow. While in this state she is able to use Breath of Snow techniques -- breath style unique only to Tsuruka. She seems to only be able to use it when wracked with intense hatred. It is believed that the sheer cold of her emotions slowly freezes her opponents.
Some fun facts:
- Tsuruka is not her given name. It was given to her by the other students her trainer was teaching at the time, as they watched her play with the nearby cranes.
- Tsuruka claims to be married to a crane husband. He brings her fish on her travels.
- The romanization of her name can be transliterated to mean "Crane Incense" or "Is that a crane?" Both of which are fitting insults she's reclaimed.
